Анотація

У статті розглянуто історичні періоди розвитку пішохідного простору (пішохідизації) в країнах Європи. Проаналізовано існуючі підходи щодо організації інженерно-планувальних рішень пішохідного простору на вулично-дорожній мережі на прикладах міст: Венеція, Париж, Копенгаген, Мельбурн та ін. Виділено прийняті терміни пішохідного простору, які використовуються для більшості країн заходу. Встановлено, що підхід до планування пішохідного простору на вулично-дорожній мережі міста повинен бути заснований на принципі зручності, оскільки основною проблемою підвищення привабливості пішохідного простору сучасності, є створення безперешкодного, безбар’єрного, комфортного, безпечного та логічного руху пішоходів.

FOREIGN EXPERIENCE IN THE ORGANIZATION OF ENGINEERING AND PLANNING SOLUTIONS FOR PEDESTRIAN SPACE ON THE STREET NETWORK OF THE CITY

English abstract

The article examines the historical periods of the pedestrian space development (pedestrianization) in European countries. Having analyzed the historical development of urban planning, we can ob�serve that the planning structure of the city affects the behavior of people and the city functioning as a system. Many old towns started as pedestrian areas. The compact layout of such medieval towns, with short pedestrian streets and shopping plazas, helped them function as centers of trade and crafts. Some cities still remain in the areas where automobile traffic is not possible or where the economy and social interaction are based on pedestrian streams. Venice (Italy) remains one of the oldest pedestrian cities in the world (which is more than a thousand years old). In this city, people are encouraged to walk and stay on the streets. An important aspect for such "staying and walking" is a well-designed infrastructure. Similar systems of active stay on the streets of city residents can be seen on the example of other cities, Venice, Copenhagen, Melbourne, etc. The existing approaches to the organization of engineering and planning solutions for pedestrian space on the street network of the selected cities have been analyzed. The accepted terms of pedestrian space, which are used in most European countries, have been defined. For example: Great Britain – "pedestrianised zone", France – "zone piétonne", Germany – "Fußgängerzone", Spain – "zona pedestrian". In Western countries the pedestrian infrastructure is designed to be as comfortable as possible. The "no-less-than-2-meters" rule is used here, but, if possible, the pedestrian zone is expanded as much as possible. Handrails are installed along the sidewalks, and a place for temporary rest should be equipped every 200 meters. The correct approach to the pedestrian space planning on the city; street network should be based on the principle of convenience for people with disabilities, children, the elderly, women, men, paying attention to the daily tasks that residents perform every day. So, the main problem of the pedestrian modern space attractiveness increasing is to create a continuous, barrier-free, unobstructed, comfortable, safe and logical pedestrian movement.
