Анотація

В статті окреслено основні вимоги сучасності до сфери міського планування. Розглянуто етапи розвитку містобудування як спеціального наукового напряму, що має своїх дослідників, у світі загалом та в Україні зокрема. Підкреслено важливість ролі системного підходу в плануванні міст. Наведено існуючі на сьогодні у містобудуванні патерни. Дано обґрунтування та визначення нового терміну – Urban Unit / міський модуль як самодостатньої одиниці містобудівної системи, яка дозволяє формувати населені пункти будь-якого розміру та значення без втрати комфортності та доступності. Перелічено можливі сфери використання Urban Units / міських модулів як одиниць у міському плануванні, наведена класифікація Urban Units / міських модулів відповідно до переважаючих функцій всередині. Обґрунтовано форму та розміри Urban Unit / міського модуля виходячи з вимог доступності інфраструктури міста, його внутрішні, вхідні та вихідні параметри.

JUSTIFICATION OF THE "URBAN UNIT" CONCEPT

English abstract

The article outlines the main modern requirements for the field of urban planning. The stages of the development of urban planning as a special scientific direction, which has its own researchers, in the world in general and in Ukraine in particular, are considered. The importance of the role of a systemic approach in city planning is emphasized. Currently existing urban planning patterns, or typical techniques and strategies used to create functional, aesthetic and efficient urban spaces, are given. The author gave the justification and definition of the new concept – Urban Unit as a self-sufficient unit of the urban planning system, which allows to form settlements of any size and value without loss of comfort and accessibility. Possible areas of use of Urban Units are listed: zoning and land use; infrastructure planning; environmental analysis; community development; economic development. The article provides a classification of Urban Units according to the predominant functions inside. The following types of Urban Units are defined: residential / multi-apartment and manor buildings (agricultural zone of cities); transport / main transport hubs, such as railway stations, bus station; public / city center, university campuses, large hospitals; commercial / mall zone, commercial central areas, markets; green / recreational zone, protective zone; industrial / production zone; agricultural (availability is possible more for small settlements, suburban areas); mixed. Reasonable form and dimensions of the Urban Unit based on the accessibility requirements of the city’s infrastructure is a conventional square with sides of 300 or 600 m. The internal parameters of Urban Unit should be based on the main characteristics: mixed-use development, building density, infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, public and cultural infrastructure: green spaces and natural objects: shared spaces: efficient transport system. The interaction of Urban Units can be measured in the future with the help of various quantitative indicators that indicate the level of efficiency, sustainability and quality of the urban environment. Thus, a system of any size created on the basis of Urban Units will be self-sufficient and at the same time capable to cooperate with other systems.
